Have a look at what we have lined up this time...It's Halloween so it's PUMPKIN time. We come from Mantua(North of Italy) and in this time of the year PUMPKIN is on top of every table, it is in every dishes made and cooked in so many different ways... the "parola d'ordine" is PUMPKIN.
If you are wondering "to much Pumpkin" eheheh, tonight you will discover at how versatile PUMPKIN is! Sooo: get your fork ready guys :-) we are here with another AMAZING dinner!!

For this Halloween let’s welcome you with a glass of Spritz Aperol !! Spritz Aperol is a popular ritual in Italy! It is undoubtedly the most widespread and commonly drunk aperitif in Italy. It is a traditional ice-breaker and symbol of a lively atmosphere

Black pizzetta Taleggio Pumpkin and Thyme, for this "pizzetta" we'll use FARINA NERA.It is one of the most used flour recently in Italy because of its extraordinary healing capabilities making it a very effective natural remedy to relieve some digestive disorders,such as bloating, flatulence or, more generally, the states of bloating.Farina Nera it is a "news" in Italian cousine and tonight you will try it with Taleggio the famous creamy cheese from Piedmont



Pan fried Scallop served with a delicious Pumpkin and Tarragon pure

 

Pumpkin, sage and smoked Scamorza cheese risotto, Sefano is a master in making risotto, Scamorza is a smoked cheese from Apulia with an excellent melting quality and the combination Pumpkin/Scamorza it's absolutely wonderful

 

Pumpkin parfait with amaretti biscuit and a lovely home made dark chocolate sauce

FIND 2 veeeeeeery young (we wish) Italian guys from Mantua, small city in the North of Italy, ADD a sprinlke of Italian interior decoration, TAKE the originality that only Stefano and his sidekick Leo can do in the Kitchen then GET a long table with 12 green wooden chairs around it , finally ADD a pinch of light music , now BLEND all together for about 4 hours and... SIGNORI E SIGNORI you are very welcome to our next secret dinner in Elephant & Castle.

Mousse di peperoni con Capesante e Bagna Cauda
Sweet peppers mousse with pan fried scallops and bagna cauda  BAGNA CAUDA is a delicious typical preparation from Piedmont region made with Anchovies, oil and garlic. In the past BAGNA CAUDA was only a dish for poor people but as time passed nowadays in Italy many restaurants offer in their menu BAGNA CAUDA and over the time it has become the symbol of friendship and happy atmosphere, tha's why we decided to cook this tonight;
Gnocchi di patate e rape rosse con gamberi al timo
Potatoes and beetroot gnocchi with king prawns and   Thyme   Stefano and I lllllove Gnocchi and the combination of Beetrot, Prawn and thyme will surprise your palate
Filetto di branzino gratinato alle erbe con melanzane e pomodori
Herby baked sea bass fillet with aubergines and tomatoes
Budino di uva fragola
Strawberry grapes pudding
This is another typical dessert in Italy and tonight we are going to make this pudding with the receipe from Mantua a bit rivisited by Stefano to make it even more special.Its name can also be "Sugol or Pappa d'Uva.

THE BOYS ARE BACK

In our first new menu we are bringing you to Mantua, city where we come from in the North of Italy. 

This menu is inspired to what we usually eat over special occasions worth celebrating or when we wake up and we have got that little something going on that makes us crave for some treat, something  from the usual pasta. 

I (Leo) am  really looking forward to this night because for some dishes we will use my mum's original recipes and...YUMMY...

In this secret dinner you will find other food lovers around the table in our nice living room. Come along to our extravaganza food dinner and you will be amazed by our menu lovingly prepared by the talented chef Stefano and the sidekick Leo which is me :-)

BRANZINO IN SALSA
Seabass stew accompanied by a really tasty sauce made with caper, parsley, salted Anchovies, garlic and onion, an amazing combination!




CAPUNSEI Classic distinctive Mantuan dish. PDO status
Bread dumplings served in butter and sage sauce with parmesan 
500 years ago people couldn't afford the luxury of throwing away the leftover from previous meals and everything would find a place in the days after dinner table,maybe in a different shape or serving a different purpose and here is where CAPUNSEI come from invented by some Tylorean emigrands in Mantua.


RISOTTO alla PILOTA col PUNTEL

Vialone Nano rice with pork sausage and pork chop on top :-/ 
It sounds strange but guys every time I go home for holiday, the dish I usually find and "ordered in advance" is this and tonight we're using my (LEO) mum's recipe for this dish. It is a popular traditional dish of Mantua, which owes its name to the workers who were involved in the rice-husking called "riders."
The special feature of this dish is its cooking, which is all played on the right ratio of water and rice, on cooking time using the cover and on an accurate focus resting time off. 
The end result is not as creamy as a normal risotto  but here is it is so special: dry and especially "grainy."

In this dinner we had lined up a menu with our most popular dishes since we opened our doors in 2012. What a night and what a company!! AMAZING we enjoyed together eating  
 laughing, and drinking till 2am, so much fun!!




 







Braised Radicchio in balsamic with roasted Pear and Pecorino cheese.


Chicken liver pate with Mushroom and marsala wine

It's time for holidayssssssss...This is our last dinner before we head off for our Summer break but fear not, we will be back in September with many and new interesting secret dinners.
So...Eat, Laugh and Meet!!! In this dinner we have lined up a menu with our most popular dishes since we opened our doors in 2012. 
To be honest hmmmm it hasn't been an task but we have created a menu with our best best best TOP 5.

@ RADICCHIO BRASATO AL BALSAMICO CON PERE ARROSTO E SCAGLIE DI PECORINO
Braised Radicchio in balsamic with roasted Pear and Pecorino cheese. 
Radicchio is a variety of red Chicory with a pleasant bitter finish. Stefano will braise it and marinate it in balsamic vinegar to add sharpness and sweetness to the dish. It will match with slowly roasted pear and shaves of creamy semi-mature Sardinian Pecorino


@ PATE DI FEGATINI DI POLLO AL MARSALA E FUNGHI
Chicken liver pate with Mushroom and marsala wine
Chicken liver pate quenelles served with a seasonal selection of mushroom tossed in Marsala wine



@ RISO VENERE AL PROFUMO DI LIMONE CON FRUTTI DI MARE SPADELLATI
Lemon scented Black Venus rice with sauted Prawn, Scallop and Squid  
Naturally black grown rice from north of Italy with a cruncy texture is the perfect combinations to seafood as it absorb all the juices and flavour




@ RAVIOLI DI BRANZINO E MASCARPONE CON POMODORO FRESCO E TIMO
Seabass and mascarpone cheese ravioli in a Thyme and fresh tomato sauce. 
 Stefano loves making home made filled pasta and tonight the combination Seabass w Thyme is just divine




@ FILETTO DI MAIALE AVVOLTO IN PANCETTA CON SALSA DI PEPERONI E RIDUZIONE DI BALSAMICO 
Pork fillet wrapped in pancetta served with sweet peppers sauce and balsmic reduction




@ PANNA COTTA ALLA VANIGLIA
Vanilla panna cotta with Stefano's best topping...  
What can I (Leo) say about Stefano's Pannacotta?.. I Don't know how to describe it but I can surely tell that it will bring you over the moon...
